Specialty Gas Sales Specialist (Open) – Whittier, CA – Retail shop
Job SummaryResponsibility for cultivating and advancing sales growth and profitability of specialty gas products within the assigned region. This role nurtures customer relationships, identifies new business opportunities, provides technical expertise, and collaborates with internal teams to ensure seamless order fulfillment.
Responsibilities- Conduct research to identify potential customers and generate new leads.
- Meet and exceed sales goals for specialty gas products, including pure gases, gas mixtures, and related equipment.
- Develop and execute strategic sales plans to qualify and partner with new customers in target industries.
- Maintain strong relationships with existing customers, understanding their evolving needs and ensuring customer satisfaction.
- Deliver technical presentations and product demonstrations to educate customers on Airgas specialty gas products.
- Collaborate with operations, customer service, and technical support to ensure seamless order fulfillment.
- Prepare and present sales forecasts, reports, and pipeline updates to management.
- Monitor market trends, competitor activities, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for product development or service enhancements.
- Facilitate agreement on pricing and contract terms with customers while adhering to company guidelines.
- Attend industry trade shows, conferences, and networking events to promote Airgas products.
- Resolve customer inquiries and concerns professionally and protect sensitive information.
- Build rapport and collaborate with internal teams to provide solutions that meet customer requirements.
- Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related scientific/technical field.
- Minimum of 3+ years of experience in product, laboratory, or sales environments (equivalent education and experience also acceptable).
- Excellent customer service skills and ability to thrive in a fast‑paced setting.
- Experience in industrial retail, inside sales, or inventory control is a plus.
- Attention to detail in handling transactions.
- Availability for occasional overtime when required.
- Must be able to operate in a drug‑free workplace.
- Background in gas, welding, or safety supplies.
- Familiarity with SAP, Google, or MS Office applications.
- Detailed understanding of SAP and PROS functionalities.
- Strong communication skills with people from diverse backgrounds.
- Target base salary range: $95,000 – $118,000 plus commission.
