Notes:

• The work schedule for this position is Monday – Friday 6:00 AM - 2:30 PM.
• The selected candidate must possess or obtain a valid Class A commercial driver license during the initial six-month period of appointment to this position.
• Employees whose position requires them to have a commercial driver license are covered by the United States Department of Transportation regulations and are subject to medical examinations, and drug and alcohol testing.
• All licenses, endorsements, and certifications must be maintained as a condition of continued employment in this position.

Essential Functions:

• Inspect, diagnose, troubleshoot, and determine corrective actions for vehicle and equipment deficiencies to identify root causes of failures and maintain safe, reliable fleet operations using diagnostic equipment, testing instruments, technical documentation, and manufacturer resources.
• Repair, rebuild, overhaul, adjust, and replace vehicle and equipment components and systems (e.g., engines, drive trains, braking systems, steering systems, hydraulic systems, and electrical systems) to restore equipment to proper operating condition using repair tools, shop equipment, replacement parts, and manufacturer specifications.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections, servicing, and component adjustments on vehicles and equipment to maximize equipment availability, extend service life, and identify developing mechanical issues using maintenance procedures, inspection equipment, and service tools.
• Perform regulatory compliance inspections and testing on fleet vehicles and equipment, including CNG fuel system and tank inspections, CHP 90-day commercial vehicle inspections, CARB Clean Truck Check compliance testing, and diesel opacity emissions testing, ensuring compliance with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
• Operate, test, and evaluate vehicles and equipment before and after maintenance and repair activities to verify deficiencies, confirm corrective actions, and ensure equipment is safe and ready for service using established testing procedures and safety practices.
• Fabricate, modify, weld, and repair equipment components and structures to restore functionality, improve equipment reliability, and support maintenance operations using welding, cutting, grinding, and fabrication equipment.
• Document inspections, diagnostic findings, repair activities, labor hours, and parts usage to maintain accurate maintenance records, support fleet management decisions, and preserve equipment repair histories using computerized maintenance management systems and asset management software (e.g., Maximo).
