Primary
Purpose:
Implement the Parents as Teachers model, emphasizing parent-child interaction, development-centered parenting and family well-being in their work with families.
Education/Certification: Bachelor’s degree (Early Childhood Education, Social Work, Health, Psychology or a related field preferred)
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
- Strong organizational and record-keeping skills
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Must be able to multitask
- Ability to work independently and use sound judgment
- Ability to establish rapport with families and empower them by building on their strengths
- Bilingual skills helpful but not required
Experience: One to two years’ experience working with families and young children
Major Responsibilities and DutiesEquipment Used: Personal computer, typewriter, printer, calculator, copier, and fax machine.
Working Conditions: Work with frequent interruptions, maintain emotional control under stress. Repetitive hand motions; prolonged use of computer. In-district and some out-of-district travel required.
