• Assistant Professor

Starting Date Fall 2027

The Department of Political Science at Midwestern State University invites applications for a full-time 9- month tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin Fall 2027. As a faculty member in the Department of Political Science you will be expected to:

• Develop and teach courses in the filed of American Politics.
• Teach 12 credit hours / 4 courses each semester.
• Regularly teach core courses in American national government and Texas government.
• Develop a record of research and scholarly activity.
• Advise and mentor undergraduate students.
• Engage in service at the department, college, and university levels.

Required Qualifications include:

• PhD in Political Science or closely related field (ABD considered with expected completion by start date).
• Expertise in the field of American Politics.
• Demonstrated teaching effectiveness.
• Evidence of potential for strong scholarly research

• Commitment to undergraduate education.
• The ability to teach courses areas that would add to the Department offerings, such as public administration, public policy, research methods, social movements, or any additional subfield.
• Interest in collaborative research with colleagues and/or students
• Interest in leading student groups such as Moot Court, Mock Trial, Model UN, or similar groups.

Requires the ability to maintain positive working relationships with students, faculty, staff, and the community. Must adhere to University’s core values:
