Design Engineer – Research & Development (Heavy-Duty Clutches & Brakes)
** Job Summary
** We are seeking a technically proficient Design Engineer to join our Research & Development team, specializing in the design, analysis, and development of heavy-duty clutches and brakes. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, development, testing, and refinement of new and existing products for high-torque, high-energy industrial applications. This role bridges concept development and production readiness, requiring strong engineering fundamentals, creativity, and the ability to collaborate across multidisciplinary teams.
** Key Responsibilities
*** Design and develop mechanical/engineering solutions for new products and technologies within R&D projects
* Translate research concepts and requirements into detailed designs, models, and prototypes
* Create and maintain 2D drawings and 3D CAD models in accordance with company and industry standards
* Perform detailed analytical calculations & simulations (e.g., stress, thermal, tolerance, or performance analysis) to validate designs
* Build, test, and evaluate prototypes; analyze test results and iterate designs as needed
* Collaborate with manufacturing, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure design feasibility
* Support design verification and validation activities, including documentation and reporting
* Participate in design reviews and contribute technical recommendations and improvements
* Stay current with relevant technologies, materials, and industry trends
* Support transition of designs from R&D to production, including supplier technical engagement
* Ensure compliance with applicable standards, regulations, and safety requirements
** Required Qualifications
*** Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
* 3–6 years of experience in a design engineering role, preferably within an R&D environment
* Proficiency in CAD software (e.g., Solid Works or similar)
* Solid understanding of engineering principles, materials, and manufacturing processes
* Experience with prototyping and product testing
** Preferred Qualifications
*** Master’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline
* Experience with simulation or analysis tools (e.g., FEA, CFD)
* Exposure to product development lifecycle from concept to production
* Understanding of manufacturing processes such as precision grinding, spline forming, and heat treatment.
