The systems onboard our aircraft play an integral part on any successful air mission. It’s the job of MHU-139 Electrical, Environmental, and Avionics Technician specialists to provide the precision maintenance necessary to keep each of these systems running perfectly. These experts utilize a variety of methods, including schematic and wiring diagrams, to ensure these systems are able to meet the needs of the pilots throughout every mission.
Whatyou’ll do
- Operate and maintain communication, navigation and missions systems
- Remove, install, check and repair avionics systems and line replaceable units
- Diagnose malfunctions using test systems and equipment
- Prepare aircraft for covert operations and reconnaissance

REQUIREMENTSYou must meet several requirements before joining the Air Force. These concern your background, overall health and other standards set by the Air Force, Department of Defense and federal law.
You must be 17–42 years of age, a U.S. citizen and obtain a qualifying ASVAB score.
High School Students may start their application as early as the end of their junior year.
Applicants who are non-graduates or non-alternate credential holders must obtain an AFQT Test score of 65 or higher on the ASVAB.
