Overview

Sage Specialty Hospital of Wichita Falls is now hiring for a PRN Dialysis Registered Nurse
.

We are seeking qualified and compassionate professionals to deliver specialized nursing care to patients experiencing chronic or acute kidney failure. In this role, you will be responsible for monitoring patient conditions, administering treatments, collaborating with healthcare teams, and providing education and support to patients and their families.

Responsibilities
  • Perform and monitor hemodialysis treatments, ensuring adherence to clinical protocols and patient safety standards.
  • Assess patients before, during, and after dialysis, documenting vital signs, symptoms, and treatment responses.
  • Administer prescribed medications related to dialysis care and monitor for side effects or complications.
  • Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain dialysis equipment, ensuring proper setup, calibration, and infection-control procedures.
  • Develop and update individualized care plans in collaboration with physicians and interdisciplinary team members.
  • Educate patients and families on kidney disease, dialysis processes, vascular access care, and lifestyle management.
  • Respond to medical emergencies during treatment, using clinical judgment to stabilize patients and escalate care when needed.
  • Maintain accurate and timely documentation in electronic health records, including treatment notes, assessments, and incident reports.
  • Coordinate patient scheduling and appointments, continuity of care, and communication with external providers.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, staff meetings, and ongoing professional development to support best practices in dialysis care.
Qualifications
  • Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Must hold a current Texas state license and must maintain license renewal in accordance with the standards of the State Board of Nursing.
  • Long term acute care and rehabilitation experience is preferred.
  • Certified Dialysis Nurse (CDN) or Certified Nephrology Nurse (CNN) preferred.
  • Critical Care experience is recommended
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English, as well as possess good verbal and written communication skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • BLS required
  • ACLS preferred
