American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU Float position requiring TX or compact RN licensure and prior travel nursing experience.
Details- work in a hospital PCU Float role primarily supporting Med Surg with floating required
- Night shift schedule with 3x12 or 4x12 hour shifts from 19:00 to 07:00
- 84 biweekly hours with a 72-hour guarantee on an alternating 36/48 hour schedule; facility may consider straight 48s
- Weekend work required as needed, which may include most weekends during the contract
- Block scheduling may be accommodated but set schedules cannot be approved
- Cares for cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, MS/Tele, and ER Holding patient populations
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Uses Epic EMR
- Manages cardiac and vasoactive drips without titration, and titrates cardiac and vasoactive drips
- Performs telemetry monitoring both on-unit and remotely with interpretation and management of dysrhythmias
- Active TX or compact RN license required, in-hand before start
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Prior travel nursing experience required
- Epic charting experience strongly preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central and peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration
- Experienced in respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management, chest tube care, high flow nasal cannula, ABG interpretation, and tracheostomy care
- Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and use of rapid response/code teams
- Experienced in wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE
- Skilled in IV insulin protocols and insulin drip titration
- Experienced with pacemakers, pre/post cardiac catheterization, and pre/post cardiac surgery care
- Must provide RTO availability, SSN, and Nursys verification with consideration
- Must be available to complete required lab work within 72 hours of accepting an offer
- Provide nursing care across multiple stepdown and telemetry-related units as part of a float pool
- Responsibilities include managing cardiac drips, monitoring for dysrhythmias, and responding to rapid response and code situations
- Facility conducts its own onsite drug screening upon arrival, including marijuana testing, with a positive result resulting in automatic cancellation
- Candidates should avoid any substances, including CBD products, that could result in a positive drug screen
- Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for the position

- Orientation includes online training modules, averaging 2-3 hours, completed via Oracle
