American Traveler is seeking an RN for a PCU Float position requiring TX or compact RN licensure, 2 years of experience, and prior travel nursing experience.
Details- PCU Float position supporting primarily Med Surg units
- Patient ratio of 1:5
- Night shift schedule (3x12 or 4x12 hours, 19:00-7:00)
- 84 hours biweekly with a 72 hour guarantee
- Must agree to a 36/48 hour alternating schedule; facility may consider straight 48s
- Weekend work required as needed, potentially most weekends during the contract
- Block scheduling may be accommodated, but set schedules cannot be approved
- Floating required to support Med Surg as primary need
- Uses Epic EMR
- Active RN license (TX or Compact) required in-hand before start
- Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
- Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- Epic charting experience strongly preferred
- Previous charge nurse experience preferred
- Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, central/peripheral/PICC line care, and blood product administration
- Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation
- Experience in cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/stepdown, and MS/Tele settings
- Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration) and interpreting/managing dysrhythmias
- Knowledge of isolation precautions/PPE and wound care/wound vac
- Experience with IV insulin protocols
- Experience with pacemakers, post cardiac cath/angiogram, and pre/post cardiac surgery care
- Responsibilities include cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and use of rapid response/code teams
- Must be available to complete required lab work within 72 hours of accepting the offer or have a plan in place for timely completion
- Must reside within a 50-mile radius of the facility
- Local candidates are not accepted
- Facility conducts its own drug screening upon arrival, which includes marijuana testing
- A positive drug screen results in automatic cancellation with no exceptions
