Reports to: Facility Trades Supervisor

Primary
Purpose:
To maintain the physical school facilities in a condition of operating excellence so that educational use of it may be made at all times.
Education/Certification:
- High school diploma or GED
- Valid Texas driver’s license
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
- Has working knowledge of the hazards and safety precautions of the trade.
- Has the ability to read blueprints and drawings and make layouts.
- Has strength and stamina necessary to perform heavy lifting and to work in heat and in uncomfortable positions, and at heights from ladders or a lift.
- Has skill in the use and care of tools and equipment.
Experience:
Three years of welding experience, including a working knowledge of the practices, materials, methods and the tools of the welding trade.
Major Responsibilities and Duties- Performs skilled welding work in equipment repair and construction.
- Performs cutting and welding operations on structural steel, machinery and equipment using acetylene and electric ARC welding equipment.
- Brazes various non-ferrous metals
- Sharpens and tempers tools.
- Fabricates special tools and equipment.
- Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment and materials.
- Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure area are clean.
- Work with building principals and supervisors to complete projects.
- Detect needed repairs on buildings, grounds and equipment following established inspection procedures.
- Perform other duties as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.

Working Conditions:
Reading and basic math, maintain emotional control under stress and demanding situations. Continual walking, standing, climbing, stooping, bending, kneeling, reaching and heavy lifting and carrying. Work in tiring and uncomfortable positions, inside and outside. Exposure to extreme temperatures. Work on high structures using ladders and scaffolding.
