This is a full-time, on-site Accounting Clerk role located in Wichita, Kansas. The Accounting Clerk supports the accounting department by performing a variety of accounting and administrative functions related to oil and gas operations. This role is responsible for accounts payable, accounts receivable, joint interest billing (JIB), and general ledger activities, in a multi-company environment, ensuring accurate financial records and compliance with company policies and industry standards.
Key Responsibilities Accounts Payable (AP)- Process vendor invoices accurately and timely, including coding to appropriate billing categories
- Review invoices for accuracy, proper approvals, and compliance with company policies
- Prepare and process check runs and electronic payments
- Reconcile vendor statements and resolve discrepancies
- Receive customer payments and apply to correct customer accounts and maintain accurate AR records
- Monitor outstanding balances and assist with collections as needed
- Reconcile AR sub-ledger to the general ledger
- Prepare and process monthly joint interest billings
- Respond to partner inquiries related to joint interest billings
- Prepare journal entries and account reconciliations
- Perform other general ledger and accounting duties as assigned
- Assist with monthly and year-end close processes and general ledger review
- Prepare severance tax exemptions, when necessary
- Revenue processing and input for non-operated entities
- Assist with other accounting functions, when necessary
- 2–5 years of accounting experience, preferably in the oil & gas industry
- Experience with accounting software used in oil & gas (e.g., SSI or similar)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other database tools
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Ability to work on-site in Wichita, Kansas
