Botanica, The Wichita Gardens, is a botanical garden located in the Riverside neighborhood of Wichita, KS. Botanica opened in 1987 and hosts thousands of guests each year. Winner of multiple national and regional awards, Botanica is known for its robust plant collections, outdoor sculptures, annual tulip display, and holiday light show. The volunteer core work in a variety of capacities across the gardens and are instrumental members of the Botanica Team.
This is a full-time position.
Distinguishing Features Of WorkThe Staff Accountant will be a partner to the Director of Finance with the ability to collaborate with a Team of staff and volunteers. The successful candidate will be a proactive hands‑on manager. They will perform the following functions:
Month End Close, Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Deposit Management, Vendor Setup, KPI and dashboard reporting, and check writing.
- Run the Fixed Asset system and make appropriate entries.
- Balance and manage credit card expenditures.
- Perform month end duties as assigned.
- Manage daily cash deposits, filling in deposit slips, and ensuring the drawers match the receipt of cash.
- Cash reconciliation including restricted cash.
- Inventory management and control within accounting system.
- ERP to Accounting System integration and reconciliation.
- Setup any new vendors within the accounting system. Collect and store any necessary vendor documentation.
- Process checks weekly for vendor payment.
- Enter and balance credit card transactions in the GL.
- Enter invoices received in the accounting system, coding to appropriate GL.
- Produce invoices for Accounts Receivable.
- Manage daily KPI reporting.
- Proficiency in the use of applicable computer software (Quick Books, Microsoft Suite (Word, Outlook, Excel, Teams).
- Ability to maintain records, prepare reports, and follow written and verbal instructions.
- Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with associates, representatives of other organizations, and the public.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
- An employee shall not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
- Ability to acquire and maintain a valid Kansas Driver's License.
- Preferred BA or equivalent experience.
- Ability to manage quality and content of all financial data, reporting and audit coordination.
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills with an ability to work with a variety of internal and external stakeholders.
- A multi-tasker with the ability to wear many hats in a fast-paced environment.
