Your Job

Flint Hills Resources is seeking a contribution-minded Accounting Analyst to join our CFO organization! This role may be responsible for supporting inventory accounting, billing processes, reconciliations, and financial reporting while identifying opportunities to improve, automate, and simplify accounting processes. This position will engage, challenge, and provide fulfillment to a candidate with strong critical thinking skills and an economic focus, who enjoys collaborating with others, and who seeks to originate ideas that can provide new insights for our business.

This role will be based at our corporate headquarters in Wichita, KS.

What You Will Do
  • Manage inventory accounting activities, including book-to-physical tie-outs, billing exceptions, discrepancy resolution, and ensuring timely and accurate invoice and payment processing
  • Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and support regulatory and government reporting requirements
  • Apply critical thinking to identify root causes, evaluate alternatives, and develop practical solutions to accounting and business challenges
  • Challenge existing processes and identify opportunities to simplify, standardize, automate, and enhance accounting workflows through technology, data analytics, and AI-enabled solutions
  • Leverage reporting, analytics, and digital tools to identify trends, improve decision-making, and increase operational efficiency
  • Partner with Commercial, Operations, IT, and other business capabilities to deliver value and improve business outcomes
Who You Are (Basic Qualifications)
  • Experience in Accounting, Finance or a similar role
  • Experience with Microsoft Office products, including Excel (spreadsheet creation/editing pivot tables, formula creation, etc.) and Access
  • This role is not eligible for visa sponsorship
What Will Put You Ahead
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a business-related discipline
  • Experience supporting accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory accounting, or related transactional accounting processes
  • Experience leading or supporting process improvement, automation, or business transformation initiatives
  • Experience leveraging data, technology (Power BI, FSM), and AI-enabled tools (Copilot) to generate insights and improve outcomes
