Controller
Our client, a growing professional services firm is seeking an experienced Controller to lead its accounting and financial operations. This is a highly visible leadership role that will partner closely with executive leadership to strengthen financial processes, improve reporting, enhance internal controls, and drive strategic decision-making.
This opportunity is ideal for a hands-on accounting leader who enjoys building structure, developing teams, and leading change within a project-based environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee all accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end/year-end close processes
- Lead project accounting, revenue recognition, WIP reporting, and contract accounting activities
- Strengthen internal controls, accounting policies, and operational processes
- Provide financial insights and reporting to support executive decision-making
- Lead and develop the accounting team while fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
- Drive system enhancements, automation initiatives, and process efficiencies
- Serve as the primary liaison for external auditors and compliance activities
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 10+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Strong background in financial reporting, project accounting, WIP accounting, revenue recognition, and audit coordination
- Proven experience leading and developing accounting teams
- Ability to lead through change and drive process improvements
- CPA preferred
- Experience in architecture, engineering, consulting, construction, or other project-based professional services environments strongly preferred
- Deltek Vantagepoint or similar ERP experience is a plus
