- Receiving telephone calls and visitors to the office;
- Controlling office access and ensuring only properly cleared visitors are authorized entry;
- Providing general information regarding office programs;
- Processing all incoming and outgoing mail;
- Receiving checks and money orders, recording receipt in an automated check log;
- Using various software to produce a variety of documents;
- Assisting in docketing for case tracking and record‑keeping systems;
- Providing clerical and office automation support.

- Satisfactory pre‑employment adjudication (fingerprint, credit and tax checks, drug testing) and favorable background investigation during continued employment;
- Registration for Selective Service, if applicable;
- Potential one‑year probationary period for selected candidates;

Experience:
One full year of experience equivalent to the GS‑4 level performing administrative or clerical duties in an office environment (e.g., handling calls, greeting visitors, producing documents with office automation software, entering data into automated databases). - Education: Four successfully completed academic years above high‑school level or a bachelor’s degree or higher (transcripts required).
- Combination of
Education and Experience:
College education beyond the second year (≥60 semester hours) plus at least one full academic year of study (30 semester hours), where one year of study equals 6 months of specialized experience (transcripts required). - Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute on a 5‑minute sample with three or fewer errors (typing test may be required).
Benefits include paid vacation, sick leave, holidays, telework options, life insurance, health benefits, and participation in the Federal Employees Retirement System. Pay ranges are $41,400–$53,821 for Kansas City and $40,736–$52,957 for Wichita. Relocation expenses are not authorized.
