Job StoryIndustrial, Systems, and Manufacturing Engineering (ISME) department is seeking reliable and professional Work-Study Student Assistants to provide front office support and assist with daily administrative operations. This role serves as a key point of contact for visitors, students, faculty, and staff.
Job SummaryA student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties- Answer and direct incoming phone calls in a courteous and professional manner
- Warmly welcome and assist visitors; check-in guests and notify appropriate faculty/staff of arrivals
- Respond to general inquiries and provide basic information about the department/programs
- Sort and distribute incoming mail to faculty and staff
- Monitor and restock office supplies as needed
- Help maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming office environment
- Monitor and update bulletin boards, digital displays, and informational materials physically available in the office
- Provide administrative support and assist with special projects as assigned
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.
Additional Requirements- Must be eligible for Federal Work-Study
- Minimum GPA of 2.5
- Availability to work 10-20 hours per week between Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM-5:00 PM
- Strong communication and customer service skills
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and able to work both independently and as part of a team
- Self-motivated with a strong work ethic and initiative
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize effectively
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; willingness to learn new systems
- Prior phone or office experience is helpful

Additional InformationSelection will be based on work-study eligibility, schedule availability, and the ability to follow instructions. The position is open until filled.
Physical RequirementsAbility to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
