Job Description

The Special Projects Coordinator supports Wichita Habitat for Humanity's strategic priorities by coordinating cross-functional initiatives, fostering community partnerships, and improving organizational capacity. Serving as the primary coordinator for Habitat’s role in the Tapestry initiative, this position works collaboratively with internal teams and external partners to connect families with housing stability resources, support program delivery, monitor outcomes and advance organizational goals. The role also provides project coordination for strategic initiatives, including construction pipeline planning, land acquisition efforts, and workforce development opportunities, while promoting collaboration, continuous improvement and exceptional service.

Responsibilities

Program Coordination & Partner Management
  • Serve as Wichita Habitat for Humanity's primary day-to-day coordinator for the Tapestry initiative.
  • Collaborate regularly with staff from organizations involved in the Tapestry initiative, including:
    • Cam  (Tapestry program liaison to Kansas Health Foundation)
    • Boys & Girls Clubs of South Central Kansas
    • Hunger Free Kansas
    • Kansas Data Trust
  • Maintain consistent communication with the Tapestry liaison to ensure alignment on timelines, priorities, and outcomes.
  • Participate in cross-organizational meetings, helping translate shared plans into actionable next steps within Wichita Habitat for Humanity.
  • Develop and maintain effective working relationships with community partners to support successful program implementation.
Client Engagement & Housing Stability
  • Support outreach, intake and ongoing engagement of families participating in Tapestry.
  • Coordinate connections to Wichita Habitat for Humanity programs, including home ownership pathways, home repair services, financial education and financial coaching.
  • Assist Wichita Habitat for Humanity Tapestry program participants in developing and progressing through individualized Housing Stability Plans.
  • Conduct regular check-ins with participating families to monitor progress, identify barriers and connect them to resources.
  • Help ensure a positive, consistent experience for families across all partner organizations.
Program Delivery
  • Coordinate and support delivery of Wichita Habitat for Humanity's Tapestry courses:
    Housing 101 and Budgeting 101.
  • Support cohort-based programming, including scheduling, communication and participant tracking.
  • Assist in aligning program participation with eligibility and pipeline needs, including home ownership and home repair.
Data Management & Reporting
  • Track participant progress, program milestones and outcomes using systems such as Smartsheet and internal databases.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date records to support reporting requirements.
  • Identify trends, gaps or risks in the pipeline and communicate them to leadership.
  • Support preparation of internal and partner reports on program performance.
Pipeline Development & Special Projects
  • Support efforts to strengthen Wichita Habitat for Humanity's program pipeline, including:
    • Identifying potential home repair candidates among partner families
    • Assisting with outreach in target neighborhoods
  • Provide coordination support for land identification and acquisition efforts, particularly in priority areas such as Opportunity Drive.
  • Assist with construction and program tracking tools to improve visibility and workflow across departments.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes across homeowner services, home repair and construction coordination.
  • Support the exploration, development and eventual coordination of an organizational internship program, including construction and programmatic areas, to build future workforce pathways and strengthen community engagement.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated commitment to Habitat for Humanity's mission and alignment with Wichita Habitat's core values: accountability, curiosity, communication, and collaboration.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, deadlines and competing priorities.
  • Strong attention to detail, with the ability to maintain accurate records, manage documentation and support compliance requirements.
  • Working knowledge of residential construction concepts, or the ability to quickly learn construction terminology and project sequencing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with staff, volunteers, subcontractors, vendors, homeowners and community partners.
