Sr Market Development Representative, Market Development

Job Description

The Senior Market Development Representative will support Kansas Gas Service's commercial efforts by implementing growth strategies for residential, commercial, and industrial markets to grow our customer and revenue base. This role involves building strong relationships with key stakeholders (developers, architects/engineers/construction firms, etc), monitoring city growth trends, and collaborating with internal teams to serve customers.

• Implement sales strategy for residential, commercial, and industrial markets.
• Responsible for origination and business development within the territory to meet customer's needs.
• Analyze, develop, and implement customer engagement strategy
• Identify key growth partners and implement communication strategy via the following:
  • Conferences/Industry Events
  • Direct mailings
  • Face to Face meetings
  • Partnerships
• Monitor and report growth mapping and planning in collaboration with other departments.
• Develop and present natural gas service proposals or provide related information to business prospects.
• Regular and reliable attendance is required in performance of job.
• Employee may be required to perform additional duties as assigned.

Bachelor's degree in Business, Communications, Marketing, other related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of formal and the following job related experience.

• Experience and/or training related to:
  • Project origination
  • Business development
  • Negotiation skills
  • Rate and usage analysis
  • Interpersonal communication skills
• Experience reading and interpreting tariffs, terms of contracts, industry publications, growth market indicators, and monitoring industry data.
• Knowledge of utility industry and local economic development opportunities.
• Understanding of Project Management.
• Experience interacting, advising, and communicating effectively.
• Experience preparing and conducting prospect/proposal meetings.
• Experience in economic and financial project analysis.
• Researching and preparing account correspondence, rate agreements, usage reports, account analysis, and rate comparison.
• Application of algebraic equations, and general math skills.
• Experience in use and function of office equipment including computers and applicable software.
• Demonstrated ability to read and write fluently in English.

Applicable driver's license. Requires travel to other company locations, and to outside meetings with customers and others.

• Physical requirements:
  • Mobility to travel in and around office facilities.
• Communication requirements:
  • Communicate and/or exchange information; conduct oral presentations.
• Visual requirements:
  • Sufficient to perform job duties.
