The Account Manager serves as the primary relationship manager for assigned employer groups, brokers, and strategic partners. This position is responsible for delivering a high-quality client experience throughout implementation, ongoing administration, renewal, and issue resolution.

The Account Manager works closely with internal departments and external vendors to ensure health plans are administered accurately, client commitments are fulfilled, and questions or concerns are addressed promptly. The ideal candidate is organized, responsive, solutions-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Client Relationship Management

Serve as the primary point of contact for assigned employer groups and brokers.

Develop strong, trusted relationships with clients, brokers, consultants, and vendor partners.

Maintain a thorough understanding of each client’s benefit plan, administrative arrangements, vendors, and service expectations.

Conduct regular client meetings and provide updates regarding plan performance, service issues, and outstanding action items.

Anticipate client needs and proactively identify opportunities to improve the client and member experience.

Document client communications, commitments, decisions, and follow-up items.

Implementation and Onboarding

Coordinate the implementation and onboarding of new employer groups.

Lead kickoff calls and recurring implementation meetings.

Maintain implementation timelines, task lists, and responsibility assignments.

Coordinate activities involving eligibility, benefits, claims, networks, pharmacy benefits, utilization management, stop-loss, COBRA, telehealth, and other plan vendors.

Review plan documents, benefit summaries, enrollment materials, , and administrative setup for accuracy.

Confirm that all required information, approvals, and deliverables are received before the effective date.

Communicate implementation risks, delays, and unresolved issues to the appropriate stakeholders.

Ongoing Account Administration

Coordinate changes involving eligibility, benefits, vendors, plan documents, and administrative procedures.

Monitor open service issues and ensure timely follow-through and resolution.

Work with claims, customer service, provider relations, billing, finance, compliance, information technology, and clinical teams to resolve client concerns.

Investigate escalated claims, eligibility, billing, network, and member-service issues.

Provide clients with clear explanations of benefit administration, claims processes, and applicable plan requirements.

Ensure internal teams are informed of client-specific requirements and commitments.

Reporting and Performance Management

Coordinate and present utilization, claims, network, financial, and service-performance reporting.

Review reports for accuracy and identify trends, concerns, and opportunities for improvement.

Track service-level commitments and communicate performance results to clients and internal leadership.

Help clients understand plan performance and the impact of cost-management strategies.

Maintain accurate account records, meeting notes, issue logs, and action-item trackers.

Renewals and Client Retention

Manage the renewal process in coordination with sales, underwriting, stop-loss, network, pharmacy, and other internal teams.

Develop and maintain renewal timelines.

Gather required data and coordinate renewal proposals and supporting materials.

Present renewal information and explain administrative, vendor, network, or benefit changes.

Identify client-retention risks and elevate concerns to leadership.

Support benefit strategy discussions and recommend solutions based on client objectives and plan performance.

Coordinate the implementation of approved renewal changes.

Compliance and Quality

Protect confidential client, member, and company information.

Follow HIPAA, ERISA, plan-document, and company confidentiality requirements.

Ensure client requests and administrative practices are consistent with plan documents and applicable requirements.

Support audits, compliance reviews, and corrective-action initiatives as needed.

Follow established workflows while identifying opportunities to improve efficiency and service quality.
