The Recreation Aide 2 is an entry-level, seasonal or part-time position responsible for providing exceptional customer service and hands‑on support for recreational activities at Watson Park. This role involves interacting directly with the public, assisting with concessions, coordinating games, and maintaining recreational facilities and equipment. Recreation Aides play a key role in ensuring visitors have a safe, enjoyable, and engaging experience.
Assignments vary based on program needs, and duties may include cash handling, basic food preparation, officiating sports activities, and performing light custodial tasks. Under direct supervision, employees are expected to carry out tasks efficiently, demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, and support a positive and welcoming environment for all park guests.

Key Responsibilities- Specific duties depend on actual work location and activities.
- Serves customers at concession counter.
- Receives and disburses cash.
- Prepares and handles food.
- Stocks concession products.
- Performs basic equipment maintenance.
- Supervises children, organizes and leads games and assists with class instruction.
- Officiates or keeps score for sports activities.
- Performs basic custodial duties.
- Sets up and takes down building furnishings and arrangements.
- Completion of work assignments may require operation of a vehicle.

- Knowledge of basic functions of arithmetic.
- Ability to count money and make change; and use a computer to access, interpret and record information.
- Ability to accept and respond to a steady volume of requests for information and/or service, both in person and over the telephone.
- Ability to lift and carry stacks of boxes or other loads weighing up to 25 pounds.
- Ability to teach students who have a wide variety of experience and aptitude.
- Ability to communicate orally clearly and effectively.
- Able to maintain effective working relationships with associates, participants and the public.
- May require ability to acquire and maintain a valid Kansas Driver's License.
- An employee will not pose a direct threat to the health or safety of other individuals in the workplace.
- Must be at least 15 years of age or older.
- Must be legally authorized to work in the United States without the need of a sponsorship.
- Prior general customer service experience.
- Prior cash handling experience.
