LK Architecture is seeking to hire a Job Captain who will be a vital member of our team. This role involves taking on the responsibilities of an Architectural Designer and leading the organization and production of Design Development and Construction drawings under the guidance of the Project Manager or Project Architect.

Job Description

The Job Captain will interpret and coordinate drawings across various disciplines, including MEP (Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing) and Structural, to ensure seamless integration of all project elements. A strong understanding of project Contract Documents—such as schedules, project budget hours, change orders, ASIs (Architect’s Supplemental Instructions), and contract requirements is essential for success.

Job Duties and Responsibilities
  • Expertly coordinate the creation of construction documents using Revit and/or AutoCAD for assigned projects.
  • Interpret and coordinate drawings across various disciplines while ensuring compliance with project Contract Documents, including schedules, project budget hours, and change orders.
  • Engage in effective communication with team members and clients to build rapport and facilitate collaboration.
  • Mentor and support the growth of less experienced team members to enhance their skills. Maintain quality control by reviewing drawings and specifications for accuracy and adherence to applicable codes.
  • Utilize independent judgment based on experience while consulting actively with the Project Manager or Project Architect for key decisions.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of applicable codes to enhance contributions.
  • Complete tasks within the prescribed budgeted hours to meet project timelines and supervisor expectations.
  • Ensure the quality of drawings and specifications by reviewing your own work and that of less experienced staff.

Qualifications

  • Proficiency in Revit is required; a commitment to achieve proficiency in AutoCAD is also necessary.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents and applicable building codes.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage tasks within budgeted hours to meet project deadlines.
Education
  • Bachelor’s (Required) with a degree in Architecture from NAAB accredited university is preferred
