Senior Architect – Healthcare FLSA Status:

Position Overview:

Role:

The Senior Architect is responsible for leading complex healthcare projects from concept through completion. This role serves as the primary point of contact for clients and oversees project teams, ensuring all work meets regulatory requirements and firm standards. The position requires strong leadership, technical expertise in healthcare design, and the ability to deliver high‑quality, patient‑centered solutions on time and within budget.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and oversee all phases of healthcare projects from Notice to Proceed through completion.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for clients, healthcare administrators, and stakeholders.
  • Represent the firm in all project‑related matters on a day‑to‑day basis.
  • Coordinate and direct internal teams and external consultants.
  • Ensure clear communication between clients, project teams, and consultants.
  • Apply knowledge of healthcare design standards, codes, and regulations (FGI, HIPAA, NFPA Life Safety, etc.)
  • Conduct due diligence to ensure compliance with all applicable codes and jurisdictional requirements.
  • Lead planning and design for healthcare environments including senior living, clinics, hospitals, and specialty facilities.
  • Coordinate with medical equipment planners and specialized consultants.
  • Oversee production and coordination of construction documents using Revit and/or AutoCAD.
  • Ensure integration of architectural drawings with consultant disciplines.
  • Conduct code analysis and review specifications, materials, and building systems.
  • Perform ongoing and final quality reviews of construction documents.
  • Ensure compliance with firm standards and healthcare regulations.
  • Conduct peer reviews on other projects assigned.
Personnel:
  • Lead and mentor project teams including Project Managers, Job Captains, and Drafters.
  • Review team deliverables to ensure quality and accuracy.
  • Collaborate with leadership on resource allocation and staffing needs.
Financial:
  • Monitor project budgets, resource allocation, and overall profitability.
  • Track accounts receivable and assist with collections as needed.
  • Support preparation of proposals, contracts, and additional service requests.
  • Provide regular financial updates and project progress reports.
Construction Administration:
  • Participate in construction phase services including site observations and reporting.
  • Review submittals, shop drawings, and RFIs.
  • Prepare meeting minutes, observation reports, and project documentation.
  • Support project closeout and document archiving.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Architecture from a NAAB‑accredited program.
  • Licensed Architect.
  • Minimum 7+ years of experience, with a strong focus on healthcare projects.
  • Proven experience managing complex projects and leading teams.
  • Strong knowledge of healthcare codes, regulations, and design standards.
  • Proficiency in Revit, AutoCAD, and standard architectural tools.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and organizational skills.
