Friends University invites applications for a full-time faculty position in the Division of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics to teach in and help to lead and develop our ABET-accredited Mechanical Engineering undergraduate program. The ideal candidate will be able to teach a wide variety of topics in engineering coursework, with the ability to incorporate the teaching of labs for some courses.

This position is a special appointment, nine-month faculty position that is eligible to be renewed on a yearly basis. The position reports to the Division Chair of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics. The candidate must hold a doctoral degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field. Prior university-level teaching experience or a significant amount of industry experience is strongly preferred.

Additional duties include:

  • Providing administrative oversight of the Mechanical Engineering program
  • Participating in recruitment efforts
  • Serving on university committees
  • Advising students
  • Engaging in networking and outreach
  • Assisting with the ABET accreditation process
  • Performing other duties as assigned

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related field

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • University-level teaching experience and/or significant industry experience preferred
