GENERAL FUNCTION

Under the direction of the Program Director, this position will assist Middle School After School students with VR hardware and software to provide an engaging, immersive environment.

MINIMUM ENTRY REQUIREMENTS Education/Experience Requirements
  • Minimum age of 16
  • Relevant work experience working with youth
Physical/Mental Requirements
  • Must be able to routinely perform the following physical activities: climb stairs, bend, stoop, kneel, twist, reach with hands, sit, stand, walk and perform light to moderate physical activity for extended periods of time, lift and/or move up to 20 pounds, have finger dexterity, grasp, perform repetitive motions, talk, hear and have visual acuity
  • Must have ability to communicate effectively; both orally and in writing
  • Must possess problem solving, organizational and task management skills; ability to make independent and sound decisions in a rapidly changing environment
  • Must demonstrate a high level of maturity, patience, dependability, sound judgment and the desire to work with all ages, especially youth
  • Must exhibit initiative in the absence of supervision
  • Must be able to relate to and work with diverse groups of people in a friendly and consistent manner
  • Must work collaboratively as a team member as well as independently and lead by assigned goals, duties and deadlines
  • Must present a neat and professional appearance at all times
Job Requirements
  • Commitment to the YMCA mission, vision and values
  • Must attend New Employee Orientation within 30 days of hire
  • Complete CPR/AED and First Aid in accordance with Conditions of Employment
  • Learn all emergency procedures and action plans for the branch
  • Understand and abide by all policies and procedures as set forth by the association
  • Work a schedule that reflects the needs of the branch
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Assisting students in navigating through the VR simulations.
  • Ensuring VR headsets stay connected to the local Wifi network.
  • Troubleshooting issues with simulations when they occur.
  • Assisting Program Director set-up and tear-down the VR equipment.
  • Submitting completed records on time (i.e. daily attendance and surveys).
  • Attending all required training sessions and scheduled meetings.
  • Maintaining consistent schedule and following established procedures for absences.
  • Supporting Strong Community Campaign fundraising.
  • Child Abuse Prevention — Responsible for adhering to boundary policies, attends required training, follows procedures for high-risk activities and supervision, reports suspicious behaviors and policy violations, and complies with mandated reporting.
  • All other duties as assigned.
EFFECT ON END RESULT

Compliance with Middle School After School program responsibilities will ensure a safe, supervised, quality program driven by needs and input of participants.
