Food Service Director - Blessed Sacrament, Wichita

Overview

The Food Service Director plays a vital role in the daily operation of the school and serves as a valued partner to families and the parish community by promoting healthy choices and supporting the nutritional needs of all students.

• Provide high standards of health and safety in all food service facilities and operations
• Ensure proper nutrition through the development of monthly menus and daily meal preparation
• Accommodate identified dietary needs of students
• Develop and maintain efficient systems for food procurement, storage, preparation, service, and distribution
• Prepare specifications and conditions for competitive bids and award bids based on quality of product, quality of service, and pricing
• Order and maintain adequate supplies of equipment, food, and commodities
• Complete all state reporting required for the operation of the school lunch program and keep the principal informed of all inspections
• Serve as the Authorized Representative and maintain required state certifications
• Ensure all activities comply with school, diocesan, state, and federal guidelines
• Distribute and process free and reduced lunch applications and facilitate related communications
• Maintain lunch account records and process monthly financial claims and deposits in partnership with the parish bookkeeper
• Supervise and train food service employees
• Maintain a positive and welcoming atmosphere and strong working relationships with students, families, school personnel, and volunteers
• Organize, assign, and communicate schedules for monthly lunchroom stewards and secure substitute helpers when stewards are ill or unavailable
• Supervise and check in students during lunch service
• Oversee daily cleaning of the cafeteria and kitchen areas, including lunchroom laundry
• Assist with food service for several special events throughout the school year

Approximately 30 hours per week

August through May on student school days, with additional days as needed to complete reports and process applications and orders for the school lunch program
