The Department Chair is responsible for providing instructional leadership and operational oversight for assigned academic programs. This role includes teaching responsibilities as well as the day‑to‑day management, supervision of personnel, and overall program health. The Director ensures academic quality, compliance with accreditation and credentialing requirements, fiscal responsibility, and alignment with institutional goals.
The Department Chair reports to the Associate Dean, Dean, Academic Vice President, or President and performs duties as assigned.

- Teaches in assigned instructional modalities (face‑to‑face, hybrid, or online) during day, evening, or weekend offerings at any WSU Tech campus or online location.
- Maintains a full teaching load of 15 credit hours per semester, with the possibility of up to 9 additional credit hours as overload.
- Program Leadership & Operations – Provides leadership for the day‑to‑day operations, overall health, and strategic direction of assigned academic programs.
- Curriculum, Accreditation & Compliance – Oversees curriculum development, program review, assessment, licensure, credentialing, and accreditation activities to ensure compliance with institutional, state, and industry standards.
- Faculty Leadership & Development – Supervises, evaluates, mentors, and supports full‑time and adjunct faculty, ensuring instructional quality and consistency across modalities.
- Instructional Planning & Resources – Coordinates course scheduling, instructional delivery, learning technologies, equipment, materials, and safety practices to support high‑quality education.
- Fiscal Management & Collaboration – Assists with budget planning, ensures fiscal viability of programs, and collaborates with college departments, industry partners, and community stakeholders to support student success.
- Master's degree in Education or a related field from an accredited institution.
- Strong classroom management skills.
- Experience working with students with learning disabilities or a demonstrated willingness to learn.
- Ability to teach in face‑to‑face, hybrid, and/or online instructional modalities.
- Effective communication, organization, and collaboration skills.
- Availability to begin in the Fall semester.
