The Wichita State Office of Financial Aid is opening applications for an exciting new student peer financial counselor position for Spring and Fall 2023! The Office of Financial Aid is looking for undergraduate sophomores, juniors, and 4th year students (non-graduating) of any major who are passionate about increasing financial literacy among students on campus.
Job SummaryA student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the student assistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other students or provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties- Learn how to become a peer financial coach through training in financial literacy topics, student financial aid, and counseling/presentation soft skills.
- Meet with members of the WSU community to share knowledge of financial wellness like financial aid and financial literacy.
- Assist the financial aid office with front desk support and administrative tasks between peer financial coach meetings and workshops.
- Support the financial wellness coordinator and peer advising lead with developing financial wellness initiatives at WSU.
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours at Wichita State University.
Preferred Qualifications- Official certification in federal financial aid training and peer financial coaching
- Professional experience in:
- Direct practice through one-on-one counseling with individuals and leading workshop groups
- Documentation, intake, and termination
- Community health work
- Financial aid support
- Project development and research
- Event planning
Ability to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
