Speech Language Pathologist.
Salary is based on experience and education: $50,003 - $85,354. The regular teacher contract is currently 184.5 days.

SLP's who hold ASHA Certification (CCC) receive an annual stipend. The district also provides continuing education opportunities.
PurposeSpeech-language pathologist will work with the Individual Education Plan (IEP) team to help resolve communication disorders including the mechanical aspects of speech production, phonation, attention/memory, articulation and language processing that interfere with the individual student's ability to derive benefit from the district's educational program.
Reporting ToDirector of Special Services and Building Administrator.
QualificationsSkills and Abilities
- Serve as a resource to staff members and parents in the development of a balanced program for communication.
- Assist and guide teachers in observing, describing, and referring suspected and identified speech and language delays/disorders.
- Participate in development of goals and strategies for educational improvement.
- Provide any assigned paraprofessional with appropriate direction, supervision and evaluation.
- Ensure that all activities conform to state and district guidelines.
- Ensure that all activities adhere to the professional standards.
- Communicate effectively with all members of the school district and community.
- Work effectively with community organizations and outside agencies.
- React to change productively and handle other tasks as assigned.
- Support the value of an education.
- Support the mission and philosophy of Derby Public Schools.
- Comply with all district policies, rules and regulations.
- Requires the ability to sit and/or stand for prolonged periods.
- Occasionally requires the ability to move, lift, carry, pull or push heavy objects or materials.
- Occasionally requires the ability to stoop, bend and reach.
Must be able to work in noisy and crowded environments. - Must be able to work indoors and outdoors year-round.
- Requires regular attendance and/or physical presence at the job.
