Position Summary

The Interim Teaching Pastor provides consistent, biblically grounded Sunday teaching that aligns with Epic Church’s mission to connect people to God and to each other, one person at a time. This role supports the church during a season of transition by offering stability, clarity, and spiritual depth through weekly preaching. The interim is not responsible for full pastoral administration; the focus is on Sunday teaching and healthy collaboration with staff and elders.

• Sunday Teaching & Worship Leadership
  • Prepare and deliver weekly biblical sermons that are clear, accessible, and rooted in Scripture.
  • Collaborate with worship staff to ensure teaching supports the flow and purpose of Sunday services.
  • Maintain theological alignment with Epic’s mission and values.
  • Provide occasional teaching for special services as needed.
• Pastoral Presence
  • Offer limited pastoral care (prayer, encouragement, relational presence on Sundays).
  • Support staff and elders with Sunday morning pre‑service huddle.
  • Participate in key church gatherings or events when appropriate.
• Leadership Collaboration
  • Work alongside Epic’s staff and elders to maintain unity, clarity, and healthy communication.
  • Attend staff meetings as needed for alignment and planning.

• Required
  • Strong preaching gift with demonstrated experience in Sunday teaching.
  • Agreement with Epic Church’s mission and core beliefs.
  • Ability to communicate Scripture with clarity, warmth, and theological depth.
  • Experience serving in a church.
  • Emotional maturity, humility, and collaborative spirit.
• Preferred
  • Some experience in interim or transitional ministry.
  • Familiarity with modern worship environments.
  • Ability to support a growing, multi‑service church.

• Preach weekly at both Sunday services (9:00 & 10:30 AM).
• Support Sunday morning pre‑service prayer and communion.
• Maintain regular communication with admin and elders.
• Participate in planning meetings related to teaching and worship.
• Be present on Sundays for relational connection and pastoral encouragement.
• Provide sermon planning 2–4 weeks in advance when possible.

• The interim pastor will not be considered for the permanent lead pastor role.
• Administrative leadership (operations, HR, finance) remains with staff and elders.
• Pastoral care is limited and shared among staff/elders.
• The interim’s role is teaching‑focused, not full pastoral oversight.

• The interim will receive support and feedback from the elders.
• A 3‑month check‑in will assess alignment, communication, and overall effectiveness.
• Adjustments to responsibilities may be made based on church needs.

• The Interim Teaching Pastor will receive $250 per week, equivalent to $1,000 per month, for preaching at both Sunday services and participating in limited planning and collaboration with staff and elders.
• For those living outside the Wichita area, Epic Church will provide fuel reimbursement to support travel to Sunday services.

The Interim Teaching Pastor plays a vital role in helping Epic Church remain spiritually grounded, unified, and mission‑focused during this transition. Through consistent biblical teaching and collaborative leadership, the interim teaching pastor helps Epic continue connecting people to God and to each other — one person at a time.
