Job SummaryThe primary function of a graduate teaching assistant (GTA) is to provide direct instruction. GTAs have the latitude to make independent decisions, use judgment and exercise discretion when dealing with student matters. In either case, the main purpose and responsibility of GTAs is to impart knowledge or training to students at Wichita State University.
Required EducationBachelor's Degree
Additional RequirementsGTA applicants must be admitted to either the English MA or MFA program in full standing.
Required ExperienceTo be eligible for an assistantship, students must be admitted to a degree program in either full or conditional standing. Students admitted on probation or placed on academic probation following admission may be eligible for assistantship awards under certain circumstances.
Physical RequirementsAbility to remain in a stationary position. Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment including but not limited to phone, printers, copiers, and calculators. Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
