Position Summary:

The Career Readiness Manager is responsible for equipping KHEDF Scholars with career skills, employer connections, and workforce readiness. This role manages career development programming, internships, and employer partnerships that prepare students to transition successfully into the Kansas workforce.

A Typical Day May Include:
  • Plan and execute career readiness workshops and major KHEDF programs (e.g., resume writing, interview skills, networking, workplace etiquette, Lead to Succeed Series, Juntos Vamos Lejos, and Latino Link Networking).
  • Build and maintain relationships with local businesses, trade programs, colleges, universities, and corporations to expand internship, cooperative education, and employment opportunities.
  • Provide individualized coaching to students and alumni on career exploration, job search strategies, and professional development.
  • Manage program timelines, budgets, and resources, tracking expenditures and making adjustments as needed.
  • Develop, monitor, and revise program materials to support KHEDF’s strategic direction.
  • Evaluate program effectiveness by tracking student participation, internship and job placements, employer feedback, and other key outcomes.
  • Identify and mitigate program risks, enhance evaluation methods, and prepare reports for funders, board meetings, and stakeholders.
  • Ensure organizational goals are met in areas including student engagement, volunteer involvement, recruitment of speakers, and mentor/mentee management.
  • Serve as KHEDF staff representative on program and education committees, assisting with recruitment of members and alignment with organizational policies and initiatives.
  • Organize programs and activities in alignment with KHEDF’s mission and goals.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
What You Will Need to be Successful:
  • College degree is preferred and/or 2-3 years of work experience in a professional setting
  • Ability to communicate complex information in a clear manner to a variety of audiences
  • Excellent analytical, administrative, and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team
  • Effective oral and written communication skills to interact with a broad audience
  • Experience leading public presentations, trainings, and speaking engagements
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail and accuracy
  • Proficient computer skills, with an emphasize on Microsoft Office and/or Google Suite and knowledge utilizing web-based software
  • Ability to lift a minimum of 20lbs and work in an office setting, may be exposed to indoor/outdoor temperatures depending on events and work assignments
  • Must have access and ability to operate personal vehicle for work-related travel
  • Must be able to attend events outside of standard work week on occasions with advance notice
What Will Place You Ahead:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Non-profit experience, Workforce Development, or related field
  • Experience in career services, employer relations, or workforce development
  • Strong communication, organization, and event planning skills
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English) strongly preferred
