Job SummaryA student assistant will carry out administrative and technical tasks requested by a supervisor. Depending on the area the studentassistant is employed in, they may assist and mentor other studentsor provide support throughout the campus in various forms.
Job Duties- Attending all Tutor Training sessions at the beginning andending of each semester.
- Checking your email inbox regularly unless notifiedotherwise.
- Providing weekly tutoring in at least one subject to studentsassigned to you.
- Assisting in the development of positive study habits, study skills, and learning modalities of tutored students.
- Providing regular feedback to SSS Academic Advisors on yourstudent’s academic progress.
- Completing and submitting your Weekly Progress Assessments andweb time sheets electronically by the due date as required.
- Attending a Mid-Semester Conference with all students you aretutoring and their advisors.
- Contributing to the continuous improvement of the quality of the tutorial process.
- Completing a Tutor Perception survey at the end of each academicyear, or the last semester you tutor.
- Actively participating in related activities of the tutorialcomponent to achieve the required outcomes of Student Support Services.
High School diploma or equivalent. Enrolled in a minimum of 6credit hours at Wichita State University.
Additional RequirementsMinimum Requirements:
- Enrolled as a sophomore, junior, senior or graduate student atWSU
- Have a cumulative 3.0 GPA or better
- Earned a grade of B- or better in the courses student will betutoring

Preferred Qualifications- Good communication skills.
- A strong desire to help first generation, limited income students and students with disabilities.
- All applications accepted, but preference will be given to students who can tutor in Accounting, Economics, Biology,Chemistry, Physics, and Spanish.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position.
- Ability to operate acomputer and other office equipment including but not limited tophone, printers, copiers, and calculators.
- Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
