The Department of Economics in the W. Frank Barton School of Business at Wichita State University invites applications for a nine-month, tenure-track position as Assistant Professor of Economics, beginning Fall 2027.

You will teach undergraduate and graduate courses, establish clear learning objectives, develop curriculum and instructional materials that accomplish those objectives, and provide students with the support needed to succeed. We welcome candidates who can contribute expertise in economics and statistics and build productive professional relationships within the community and across the university.

Job Summary

Teach courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels using various instructional deliveries (e.g., traditional (face-to-face), hybrid, and fully online). To foster applied learning into the course design and engage with industry and local business community applied projects. To advance knowledge through scholarly activities (e.g., active involvement in committees, student mentorship, recruitment and retention initiative, outreach activities, etc.)

Job Duties

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Teaching:
    Teach two courses per semester (four courses per academic year) at the undergraduate and graduate levels, with courses offered in face-to-face, hybrid, blended, and fully online formats. Each course is three credit hours. Teaching assignments may include, depending on the candidate's expertise and program needs, Principles of Microeconomics, Labor Economics, Business Statistics, and related courses with the opportunity to develop courses in the candidate's area of expertise.

    The successful candidate will establish key objectives for classes, develop curriculum and syllabi, present course material through lectures and learning activities, and answer students' questions and provide support to help them succeed.
