Position: Drafter - CAD Experience Required

Based in Wichita, Kansas, the "Air Capital of the World," we operate one of the largest and most advanced FAA-certified repair stations in the country.

Our expertise spans various domains, including electrical, mechanical, and software design, DO-160 testing, DO-178 software development/testing, rapid prototyping, and 3-D modeling alongside international collaborations with OEMs.

Job Purpose

Maintain and perform all aspects of the drafting department by performing the following duties. Works under general supervision of the Engineering Manager.

Essential Functions

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Creates product designs from concepts generated in the Engineering Department; submits sketches to create CAD drawings, using Autodesk product design and manufacturing (PDM) collection software (inventor, AutoCAD, Autodesk Fusion).
  • Creates bills of materials and submits to Material Master to enter into MRP system.
  • Designs prototypes, and assists with prototype material availability for development.
  • Assist in troubleshooting and design solutions.
  • Generates engineering change notices, engineering change requests, engineering change orders and maintains configuration control of 3D model environment.
  • Process engineering change requests by updating 3D models & drawings as required.

  • Associates in Applied Science or Engineering Design Technology preferred;
    High school diploma or general education degree (GED);, with experience in CAD Certified Training; or three to five years previous experience; or equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry.

    Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations.
  • Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate verbally in one‑on‑one and group situations with management, co‑workers, employees, and customers, including the ability to speak clearly, effectively, and professionally in positive or negative situations; listens to others without interrupting and gets clarification; and responds well to questions.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret simple and complex instructions, work orders, and technical procedures.

    Ability to read and understand blue prints and specifications.

    Ability to compose and edit basic correspondence and procedures.

    Writes clearly and informatively; edits work for spelling and grammar.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

    Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.

    Ability to reason complex problems.

    Ability to perform repetitive mental and physical activities.
  • To perform this job successfully, an individual should be able to operate the software and equipment, as required by the department, including but not limited to printers, plotters, calibers, micrometers, microscopes and other laboratory type equipment.
  • Ability to interact in a positive and professional manner and to develop and maintain strong working relationships with co‑workers, employees, and management; the ability to respond promptly to management needs and requests; and ability to meet commitments.
