Network and Communications Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Network and Communications Engineer to support the design and integration of aircraft cabin and communication network systems. The ideal candidate will excel in applying network concepts, conducting performance evaluations, and troubleshooting within the aerospace industry.
Responsibilities- Apply communications and network concepts to support the design and integration of aircraft cabin and communication network systems.
- Perform and support communications and network testing activities.
- Conduct systems installation design, performance evaluation, and troubleshooting.
- Define high level and detailed network architectures, including interfaces, protocols, and topology.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams across electrical, mechanical, and systems engineering disciplines.
- Support change management through research, concepts, design reviews, trade studies, impact analysis, and implementation.
- Show compliance to 14
CFR Part 25, Transport Canada, and EASA aircraft requirements. - Research specifications for components selections.
- Work with suppliers and internal customers to assist with production and/or flight test personnel, investigating, troubleshooting, and resolution of build and test issues.
- Review installation drawings, qualification test data, and reports.
- Create system schematics, requirements documents, system descriptions, interface documents, wiring diagrams, certification plans, functional test requirements, test plans, test reports, and design compliance reports for new and/or upgraded aircraft systems, with guidance.
- Experience with avionics systems and design, including Part 25.
- Experience with communication network systems, Satcoms, and air-to-ground systems.
- Ability to define network architectures, interfaces, protocols, and topology.
- Proficient in creating schematics, wiring diagrams, and conducting functional tests.
- Troubleshooting skills.
- Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent.
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in electrical/avionics system design or related field.
Skills & Qualifications
- Experience in interior design cabin systems.
- Some supplier management and system safety knowledge.
- Advanced understanding of communications and network engineering concepts is a plus.
- Working knowledge of applicable regulatory certification rules (FAA, EASA, TCCA) is a plus.
- Working knowledge of Cybersecurity and System Safety aspects of certification is a plus.
- Proficiency with MS Office (MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
- Working knowledge of electrical, avionics, and wire harness design guidelines for CFR Part 25 aircraft is preferred.
Work is conducted in an engineering office setting with a schedule of Monday to Friday, 7 AM to 4 PM. A minimum of three days onsite is required, with additional onsite presence as needed. Minimal business trips, potentially once a quarter to Canada, may be required.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract position based out of Wichita, KS.
Pay And BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $60.00 - $85.00/hr.
