Schedule:
Monday to Friday. 8am to 5pm

PDS Tech Commercial is partnering with a leading aerospace innovator to hire a Motor Design Engineer who will play a critical role in developing advanced motor and electromagnetic technologies. In this hands‑on position, you’ll own the full product lifecycle—from concept through production—delivering high‑performance solutions that power aerospace, defense, and industrial systems. Your work will directly impact reliability, efficiency, and innovation in mission‑critical applications.
WhatYou’ll Do
- Design and develop PMDC, wound‑field DC, BLDC, and AC induction motors, as well as electromagnetic devices such as resolvers, synchros, LVDTs, and RVDTs
- Perform electromagnetic simulations, trade studies, and material selection to optimize performance, efficiency, and manufacturability
- Develop electrical architectures, winding configurations, and interface designs from concept through release
- Collaborate on integration with drives, control electronics, and sensor systems
- Create and maintain engineering documentation, including drawings, models, BOMs, calculations, and specifications
- Support prototyping, validation, qualification, and environmental testing
- Analyze test data, troubleshoot issues, and perform root‑cause investigations
- Partner with cross‑functional teams across mechanical, manufacturing, quality, and program management
- Interface directly with customers to resolve technical requirements and performance challenges
- Contribute to reliability analysis (FMEA, MTBF) and continuous product improvement initiatives
- Research and implement new materials and technologies to enhance product performance
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Electromechanical Engineering, or related field
- 5–7 years of experience in motor or electromagnetic product design
- Strong knowledge of motor design principles, topologies, and performance tradeoffs
- Experience supporting full product lifecycle development, from concept through release and sustaining
- Hands‑on experience with prototyping, testing, and troubleshooting
- Strong technical documentation and engineering release experience
- Proven ability to collaborate cross‑functionally and communicate with customers
- Ability to work in a high‑reliability engineering environment
- Experience with tools such as Ansys Electronics Desktop, RMxprt, Simcenter Motor solve, or Simcenter Magnet
- Familiarity with Autodesk Inventor, Mathcad, Microsoft Office, and document control systems
- Experience with motor drives, power electronics integration, and electrical interface development
- Knowledge of aerospace/defense standards such as DO-160 or MIL-STD-810
- Background in high‑reliability aerospace, defense, industrial, or motion‑control applications
- Experience supporting qualification testing, customer reviews, and production transition

Pay Details: $59.00 to $65.00 per hour
