The Construction Estimator (Project Estimator II) independently develops cost estimates and proposals for projects of moderate to high complexity. A typical day involves reviewing technical documentation, coordinating with internal departments to resolve scope questions, and developing complete cost estimates for proposal submission. This role contributes to maintaining estimating consistency and accuracy across projects while supporting internal process improvements. The Construction Estimator (Project Estimator II) works collaboratively with Sales, Engineering, Manufacturing, and project stakeholders throughout the proposal development process.
Responsibilities- Prepare complete estimates for complex projects with minimal supervision.
- Interpret drawings, specifications, and scope documentation.
- Coordinate with Sales, Engineering, and Manufacturing to clarify scope.
- Develop proposal clarifications, risk notes, and documentation.
- Participate in internal bid reviews and lessons-learned discussions.
- Mentor Junior and Estimator I staff on estimating methods.
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and estimating efficiency.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related technical field OR equivalent work experience
- 4-7 years in estimating, construction, drafting, or related technical work
- Strong analytical and cost modeling skills.
- Ability to independently manage multiple complex estimates.
- Strong communication and cross-department coordination skills.
- Proficiency with Pro Est or other estimating systems.
- Experience in industrial or government contracting environments.
- Experience mentoring junior estimating staff.
