As a Mechanical Design Engineer, you will provide engineering and technical support in the evaluation and testing of existing and emerging technologies, systems, and capabilities. You will be responsible for the mechanical design and development of new products, including research and integration of new and existing technologies. You will collaborate on the concept, design, prototyping and testing of new products and be involved with their introduction to the production process.

Responsibilities
  • Collaborate on concept development, design, prototyping and testing of new products and support their introduction to production.
  • Develop 3D, assembly and product designs in Solid Works, including 2D drawings and documentation.
  • Design to meet regulatory compliance and qualification testing of new products.
  • Implement Engineering Change Orders (ECOs) for new and existing designs.
  • Bill of Materials (BOM) creation and maintenance on drawings and in ERP system.
  • Author manufacturing work instructions for production implementation.
  • Tooling/assembly fixture design and specification as needed.
  • Part and vendor evaluation and qualification.
  • Optimize mechanical design of new products based on competing demands of performance, size, weight, cost and time.
  • Apply mechanical experience and knowledge of parts such as extrusions, sheet metal, machining, molding, electrical systems, etc.
  • Research new technologies, materials, processes or methods to incorporate into new designs.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering.
  • Minimum of 7 years of electromechanical design or Solid Works experience where mechanical and electrical requirements are interdependent to meet performance and test specifications.
  • Advanced skills in solid modeling (3D) software using Solid Works.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office.
  • Strong attention to detail; organized, focused, and results-oriented.
  • Problem-solver with critical thinking and prioritizing skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skills.
  • Good eye-hand coordination.
  • Occasional lift and carry independently up to 75 lbs.
  • Constant handle, feel and manipulation of small objects.
  • Use of small tools such as screwdrivers, tweezers, and wire cutters.
