Senior Storage & Data Protection Engineer – (Net App / ONTAP)

Duration: 6-month contract (potential to extend or hire)

Seeking a hands‑on senior engineer to own and modernize enterprise storage and data protection in a secure, regulated research environment. This role leads Net App infrastructure strategy, complex migrations, disaster recovery design, and backup/virtualization optimization. Requires strong technical execution, documentation discipline, and experience in CMMC-aligned environments.

This role will serve as the technical owner of enterprise Net App storage infrastructure, leading modernization efforts, executing complex data migrations, implementing disaster recovery replication strategies, and optimizing backup and virtualization ecosystems.

This is a CMMC‑aligned environment, so the engineer needs to clearly explain decisions, document architectures, and produce audit‑ready materials. If they’re the type who “just fixes things” but doesn’t document, they’ll struggle here.

• Deep Net App ownership + migration expertise (the centerpiece). This role lives and dies on Net App. Not just “admin experience,” but true ownership
• Data protection & disaster recovery architecture (Veeam)
• Experience in regulated / CMMC‑aligned environments. Plenty of engineers have Net App + VMware, but fewer understand how to operate in secure, compliance‑heavy environments
