Job DetailsATLAS – the Advanced Technologies Lab for Aerospace Systems – is a multi-disciplinary manufacturing environment and engineering education program to prepare engineers and educators for the Factory of the Future and to aid the current workforce seamlessly adapting to advancements in the workplace. We are seeking an NDI Technician Level II to join our team.
Job Summary / Essential FunctionsPerforms non-destructive inspections and/or tests on objects or materials using pre-approved procedures to examine and identify functionality and performance and determine conformance with specifications. Ensures materials and products are in accordance with established tolerance levels for quality and performance and are not irregular or damaged. Uses ultrasound, radiography, or other techniques and systems as needed. Directs and/or trains students in the performance of daily laboratory activities with the objective of achieving optimal quality control, process implementation and project performance.
Establishes, updates, and reviews laboratory procedures according to appropriate standards and/or requirements to ensure they are viable and current.
Education and Experience
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Two (2) years of related experience in NDI
- Certification in UT and IR required
- Ability to obtain a Secret security clearance within 90 days of hire
Skills and Abilities
- Ability to perform research in a laboratory setting.
- Ability to operate engineering laboratory equipment.
- Ability to ascend and descend ladders and/or stairs.
- Ability to position self for inspection, construction or maintenance of equipment and/or buildings including confined, elevated and loud noise spaces.
- Ability to inspect work, materials, equipment, and/or supplies and identify any errors, needs, and/or determining factors.
- Ability to remain in a stationary position.
- Ability to communicate with others and accurately exchange information.
- Ability to use tools, equipment, and technology necessary to do the job. This includes dexterity in instrument manipulation.
