This position supports new design and modifications of aircraft structures and/or systems installation and is responsible for the creation of quality solutions on time from a design point of view. Duties include performing design efforts for both metallic and non‑metallic parts along with system installations (electrical, hydraulic, fuel) while working in close collaboration with static stress and fatigue colleagues. Methods include the use of multiple applications to develop efficient solutions to satisfy design and/or system installation principles.

Primary

Responsibilities
  • Autonomously perform moderate to complex levels of design solution development.
  • Participate in team assignments such as detail part design, layout maturation, trade study analysis, weight reduction efforts, certification activity, or in‑service support.
  • Create or modify technical documents such as Design Datasets, Product Structures, etc. within various Airbus computer‑based applications/toolsets (SAP, CATIA, VPM, etc.) with high quality and efficiency.
  • Liaise with Static Stress, FDT and other appropriate Airbus departments to develop optimum design solutions.
  • Accept broad objectives with agreed deadlines and establish the tasks required and how they should be completed; work independently.
  • Apply extensive technical expertise and have full knowledge of related disciplines.
  • Obtain and effectively utilize Authorizer Technical Signatory and Approver Signatory.
  • Mentor and provide leadership to less experienced designer/design engineers.
  • Lead the preparation of complex business and technical material and presentation packages.
  • Demonstrate a high level of listening and oral skills by leading discussions on issues, solutions, ideas, and status of work.
  • Guide or lead the successful completion of projects and execute activities to achieve customer requirements.
  • Act as key technical contact on contracts and projects; interact with senior external personnel on major technical matters.
Additional Responsibilities
  • Identify and support local improvement initiatives to increase team efficiency through process, methods and tools improvements.
Required Education

Bachelor of Science (BS) Degree in Engineering (Aero, Civil, Mechanical) with a strong curriculum emphasis on structural design and analysis and mechanics of materials.

Preferred Education

Master’s Degree in an Engineering discipline.

Required Experience
  • Minimum nine (9) years total experience in design and analysis with airframe structures and/or system installation projects.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience in metallic/composite airframe structure and/or system installation of electrical harnesses, fuel lines, hydraulic systems.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities
  • In‑depth knowledge of technical principles of design, theories, and concepts.
  • Applied knowledge of design documentation, techniques and procedures.
  • Capable of working in a dynamic, fast‑paced environment both independently and collectively.
  • Dependable, self‑motivated and accessible.
  • Team player demonstrating a positive & collaborative attitude.
  • Able to lead small teams technically to achieve agreed milestones.
  • Able to effectively prepare and deliver detailed, complex presentations inside and outside the organization.
  • Strong computer background, including MS Excel and Google Suite application experience (Docs, Sheets, Slides, Gmail).
  • CATIA V5 and/or 3DExperience;
    Proven skills in multiple CATIA workbenches.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities
  • Software coding in C, C++, Python, or other programming languages.
  • Working knowledge of Airbus Structures.
