This role is at Spirit Aero Systems, Inc. a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, supporting Spirit's Commercial Business Units ("Spirit Commercial"). Spirit Commercial designs and builds commercial aerostructures, including for Boeing Commercial Airplanes, one of Boeing's three business units and the premier manufacturer of commercial jetliners for decades. Spirit Commercial's core products include fuselages, pylons, nacelles and wing components, with a focus on innovative composite and aluminium manufacturing solutions.
Position Responsibilities:
* Leads and directs quality organizations for acquire, define, produce or service processes.
* Establishes, oversees, and administers processes, policies, and best practices, and determines resource requirements, acquisition, redeployment, improvement plans and quality measures.
* Interfaces with other organizations, external suppliers, customers, and regulatory agencies to define, evaluate and communicate accomplishment of project and program priorities through all phases in the service life cycle.
* Provides organizational vision and strategic plan, quality policies, processes, and procedures, as well as process improvements and prevention measures.
* Communicates, educates, trains and coaches customers, suppliers, and internal personnel regarding Quality policies, processes and procedures.
* Provides cross-functional leadership and Quality technical expertise.
* Acts as the primary Liaison between the Spirit Wichita MRO and the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) to verify company compliance with the Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR)'s, European Union Aviation Safety Agency(EASA) and United Kingdom Civil Aviation Authority (UK CAA).
* Manage within the Maintenance, Repair, and Overhaul area, inspections of materials, parts, and assemblies in original production or modified from original type design products to ensure that they conform to type certification or engineering approved data or data acceptable to the administrator and pass inspection for safe operation.
* Provides technical expertise to company employees, FAA, customers, and suppliers on issues of compliance with contractual, regulatory, and company requirements.
* Under the general supervision of the FAA, oversee issuance of original or replacement type airworthiness approvals for products and articles that conform to approved design requirements and are in a condition for safe operation. Must have Airframe License.
Chief Inspector:
* Determine that the requested maintenance, preventive maintenance, or alteration can be accomplished within the applicable data despite any other damage or discrepancies noted.
* Maintain and Audit Approved Supplier list for certified and non-certified suppliers.
* Maintain and review Maintenance Functions used by Spirit Production
* Ensure compliance with all manuals and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and update as required.
* Ensure records of all calibrations and checks are kept current, and the calibrations are performed in accordance with the standards and procedures.
* Maintain the Virtual Workstation.
* Prepare and execute all internal and external audits, including performing root cause corrective action (RCCA) on findings.
* Ensure all incoming, hidden damage, preliminary, in-process, and final inspections are performed in accordance with the procedures.
* Determine equivalency of tools and equipment used by the repair station (other than that recommended by manufacturers) and document that determination.
* Submit reports of serious failures, malfunctions, or defects in accordance with the procedures.
* Ensure all employees follow FAR Part 121.377, Duty Time Limitations.
* Act as the primary contact for issues that may arise related to Technical Data, Shelf Life, Calibrated Tooling, and Scrap Parts.
* Ensure that work accomplished outside the repair station's fixed location is performed per procedure.
* Ensure that parts designated as scrap are appropriately dispositioned.
* Ensure work performed by contracted vendors are properly performed and documented, including audits.
* Continuously review the repair station's training program to ensure all training needs are met.
* Perform the repair station's "self-evaluation" to determine if an article can be added to its Capability List.
* Review repair station work packages/maintenance records/final certification documents.
* Maintaining a current and accurate FAA-approved training program.
* Assure that all employees performing Safety Sensitive work are included in the DOT Anti-Drug and Alcohol Program.
