Overview

Spirit Aero Systems, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of The Boeing Company, is seeking a Quality Manager for the Spirit Defense Business Unit. Spirit Defense is an independent supplier to the defense and space marketplace, delivering innovative engineering, rapid prototyping, and support services to its customers.

Responsibilities
  • Maintaining and continuously improving the Quality Management System (QMS)
  • Serve as the company Quality Management Representative
  • Act as liaison for interface with customers, suppliers, and other agencies
  • Lead the MRB Team in review of all non‑conformances
  • Lead the RCCA Team in root cause and corrective actions
  • Work with leadership and peers to develop future state projects, goals, and timelines
  • Prioritize projects and goals by importance and scope
  • Work with process owners and stakeholders to develop plans to meet improvement goals
  • Lead execution of identified initiatives (e.g., Kaizen events or other improvement efforts)
  • Collaborate with stakeholders when others lead improvement efforts to ensure timely completion
  • Perform continual assessments of current state process performance and update regularly to ensure business improvement
  • Schedule and lead effective meetings
  • Develop and use formal meeting agendas and minutes to capture and execute action items
  • Develop and conduct presentations, reports, or other communications for leadership or process improvement
  • Assist in developing training, verifying effectiveness, and performing tests or measurements of processes
  • Author or revise documents such as procedures, work instructions, and standard operating procedures
  • Perform spot audits in assigned shop for compliance items

This position is expected to be 100% onsite. The selected candidate will be required to work onsite at the Wichita, KS location.

Qualifications Basic Qualifications (Required Skills/Experience)
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 5+ years of related experience in a quality setting
  • Ability to obtain a U.S. Secret Security Clearance and Special Program Access (U.S. Citizenship required)
Preferred Qualifications (Desired Skills/Experience)
  • Associate's or Bachelor’s Degree
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office and other software used in aerospace manufacturing
  • Experience using SAP
  • Proficient with standard industry RCCA tools (e.g., 7‑Pack, 8D, 5 Whys, Fishbone)
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Team player
  • Strong work ethic, self‑starter, willingness to learn and grow professionally
  • Understanding of DPD and GD&T, with experience in Catia, 3D, or MBD engineering models
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or other LEAN certification/experience
  • Experience in project management
  • Previous experience with Sikorsky Aircraft Corporation as a Designated Quality Representative
  • Familiar with AS9100 RevD

Summary Pay Range: $73,400 – $112,550

Kansas Tax Credit

Join Spirit Aero Systems’ Kansas team and you may be eligible for a $5,000 state of Kansas Aviation tax credit for up to five years.  for more information on the tax credit.

Security Clearance

This position requires the ability to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance. U.S. Citizenship is required. An interim and/or final U.S. Secret Clearance post‑start is required.
