As composite mechanic you will be working on Boeing 787 and Airbus A350. Perform repairs in a FAA approved Repair Station, working from structural repair manuals, component maintenance manuals, aircraft maintenance manuals, and other approved repair instructions from the manufacturer or airline customer.
Team with others to perform maintenance, repair, and overhauls to a wide variety of structural and non-structural fiberglass, acrylic and other composite and metal parts. Work from approved repair manuals and documents, process specifications, quality control requirements, drawings and established processes and procedures to assure the timely delivery of quality products to the customer. Perform multi-tasking and multi-machine operation where applicable.
Responsibilities- Perform repairs, maintenance, and overhauls on composite and metal parts for Boeing 787 and Airbus A350 at a FAA approved Repair Station.
- Work from structural repair manuals, documentation and drawings to ensure timely delivery of quality products.
- Multitask and operate multiple machines where applicable.
- Demonstrate technical expertise in fabricating assemblies, reworks and repairs of non-metallic parts, applying knowledge of material characteristics and bonding techniques.
- Perform rework/repair in keeping with engineering intent using electronic media (work instructions, model-based definitions, specifications, requirements documents, MRB dispositions, etc.).
- Verify dimensions of parts using mechanical and electronic precision measurement tools; may perform first article inspection.
- Capture, translate, validate or provide measurement information to meet engineering intent and top-level requirements.
- Structural Composite Repair Certified (TR009348).
- Experience with "Composite Repair" versus "Composite Layup".
- Preference for Boeing 787 Dream liner experience.
- Must have heavy repair experience.
- 5 years of AOG experience.
- Willingness to travel domestically and internationally on short notice and for long periods of time.
- Abide by initial screening requirements and plate test certification process.
- Maintain required personal certifications.
- Perform complete inspection, including first part review of procured or fabricated parts and assemblies.
- Initiate and document non-conforming conditions for MRB action.
- Perform process surveillance to assure compliance with requirements.
- Prepare and maintain quality records.
- Proficient in use and interpretation of CAD/CAM tools or similar to support fabrication, manufacture or rework to engineering configuration.
- Coordinate with Engineering and other disciplines in determining and developing materials, processes, specifications, and related documents for non-metallic parts, tools, assemblies, and equipment.
- Will be tested for repair certification after the plate test.
