Akkodis is seeking a Aircraft Systems Test Engineer (FAA / Component Repair) at

Location:

Wichita, KS/Tulsa, OK for a contract Duration: 06+ Months with potential to direct hire.

Pay Range: $65/h- $80/h;
The rate may be negotiable based on experience, education, geographic location, and other factors.

Responsibilities
  • We are seeking an Aircraft Systems Test Engineer responsible for the development, modification, and test of a wide variety of electronic systems, electromechanical aircraft systems, including electric motors, generators, actuators, and integrated aircraft subsystems, with supporting exposure to hydraulic, pneumatic, and fuel systems.
  • This role is a growth focused engineering position, supporting New Product Development (NPD), reverse engineering, and capability expansion across FAA Part 145 repair activities. The ideal candidate is a self-starter, capable of working autonomously in a fast-paced, flexible engineering environment, and experienced in supporting DER repairs and FAA certification activities.
  • The Aircraft Systems Test Engineer will plan, implement, and support FAA Repair Station activities; apply engineering principles, theories, and industry practices to develop FAA approved repair solutions; and participate across multiple aspects of the FAA FAR
    145 component repair and certification process. All duties are performed in a dynamic shop-based environment supporting both Engineering and Operations.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Evaluate and resolve technical feasibility, test, and production issues related to aircraft systems.
  • Plan and implement engineering programs, including defining project scope, milestones, customer requirements, and technical strategy.
  • Develop capabilities to disassemble, repair, assemble, and test electrical systems, electromechanical aircraft systems, including motors, generators, actuators, and integrated assemblies.
  • Design, build, modify, and sustain test stands and test equipment, including electrical and electromechanical test infrastructure.
  • Support reverse engineering efforts where OEM manuals or design data are limited, including teardown, failure analysis, and test equivalency development.
  • Make changes to existing designs for derivative product development, cost reduction, or obsolescence mitigation.
  • Evaluate and approve engineering drawings, bills of material, procedures, and technical reports.
  • Coordinate activities related to technical development, scheduling, and resolution of engineering design and test challenges.
  • Prepare interim and final project documentation, including customer and regulatory deliverables (e.g., repair substantiation, test plans, qualification reports).
  • Maintain strong technical collaboration with Operations, Quality, Sales, and Engineering leadership.
  • Use equipment and materials safely and properly; report potentially unsafe conditions.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Electronics or Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field or higher from a four-year college and/or university in the field of Engineering.
  • Experience in the assembly, disassembly, and testing of electronic systems, electromechanical systems (motors, generators, actuators, or similar aircraft components).
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience in a regulated industry, such as aerospace or defense; FAA certification experience preferred.
  • Experience supporting FAA FAR 145 repair activities and DER approved repair solutions.
  • Preferred experience with LabVIEW, Solid Works, or similar engineering and test tools.
  • Proven team player with strong communication, presentation, leadership, and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated problem solving ability, organizational skills, and capacity to work independently.
  • Hands-on mindset with the ability to understand system-level interactions and the broader business impact of engineering decisions.
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple priorities, and meet deadlines.
  • Ambitious, flexible individual with a strong desire to learn, grow, and support business growth initiatives.
Typical Working Conditions
  • Work will be conducted mostly indoors in a “shop” type environment.
  • Exposure to heat or cold will mostly be limited to when walking from one building to another or if bay doors have been opened to allow for shipping and receiving activities. The use of PPE such as safety glasses and safety toed shoes are required in designated working areas.
