Summary
The Professional Sr., Engineering - Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) is responsible for leading complex engineering assignments related to electromagnetic compatibility certification, analysis, testing, and sustaining activities. This position supports aircraft safety and compliance with internal and external electromagnetic requirements, including Electromagnetic Interference (EMI), High-Intensity Radiated Fields (HIRF), Low-Intensity Radiated Fields (LIRF), Lightning, and Electrostatic Discharge.
Essential Functions- Lead complex engineering assignments related to EMI, HIRF, LIRF, Lightning, and Electrostatics, including detailed analyses using similarity assessments, simulation, and analytical methods
- Drive resolution of electromagnetic-related issues to support EMC certification, sustaining activities, production, and in-service aircraft support
- Define EMC scope of work, project effort, activities, milestones, technical risks, and task priorities for engineering projects
- Analyze new and modified system or structure designs to assess engineering impacts and propose EMC compliance approaches
- Review and approve engineering documentation, including test procedures, test reports, analysis reports, and certification compliance documentation
- Support creation and updates of technical requirements for EMI, HIRF, LIRF, Lightning, and Electrostatics
- Prepare and review aircraft-level EMI, HIRF, LIRF, Lightning, and Electrostatic Discharge test procedures, oversee testing, and generate test reports
- Provide EMC guidance to internal teams, external suppliers, partners, clients, and collaborative research and development teams
- Mentor junior team members and interns, delegate project work, and support knowledge capture, training, and skills development initiatives
- Represent the EMC team in multidisciplinary meetings and support EMC testing in Canada, the United States, and Europe as needed
- Identify and implement improvements to engineering processes, technical practices, and EMC best practices
