We are seeking an experienced Flight Deck Integration & Human Factors Engineer to support the design, integration, evaluation, and certification of advanced aircraft flight deck systems.

This position focuses on ensuring that aircraft hardware, software, cockpit interfaces, pilot tasks, and the operating environment are designed around the cognitive, perceptual, and physical capabilities of flight crews
.

The successful candidate will contribute to User-Centered Design (UCD), Human-Machine Interface (HMI), Human Factors, ergonomics, usability testing, simulation, and flight deck certification activities across new aircraft development, cockpit modification, and sustaining programs.

We are seeking an experienced Flight Deck Integration & Human Factors Engineer to support the design, integration, evaluation, and certification of advanced aircraft flight deck systems.

The successful candidate will contribute to User-Centered Design (UCD), Human-Machine Interface (HMI), Human Factors, ergonomics, usability testing, simulation, and flight deck certification activities across new aircraft development, cockpit modification, and sustaining programs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in User-Centered Design (UCD) activities related to aircraft flight decks, avionics, and Human-Machine Interface (HMI) design.
  • Support the design and evaluation of cockpit interfaces through prototyping, simulation, analysis, and usability testing
    .
  • Apply cognitive and physical ergonomics principles to aircraft cockpit and flight deck design.
  • Develop and conduct scenario-based evaluations and testing of flight deck systems.
  • Develop and utilize HMI simulations and prototypes to evaluate system functionality and pilot interaction.
  • Work directly with pilots and flight crews to assess cockpit usability, workload, situational awareness, accessibility, and overall user experience.
  • Support the development of flight deck and HMI requirements.
  • Conduct task analysis, workload assessments, human error analysis, and usability evaluations
    .
  • Evaluate cockpit designs from both physical and cognitive Human Factors perspectives.
  • Support Verification & Validation (V&V) activities associated with flight deck systems and interfaces.
  • Participate in the development and evaluation of overall flight deck User Experience (UX) and design philosophy.
  • Develop and maintain Human Factors engineering documentation supporting aircraft development and certification.
  • Support Human Factors activities for new aircraft programs, significant cockpit modifications, avionics upgrades, and sustaining programs
    .
  • Collaborate with avionics, systems, flight test, certification, industrial design, and other engineering organizations.
  • Coordinate with Human Factors specialists supporting maintenance, manufacturing, maintainability, and aircraft operations
    .
  • Plan, execute, analyze, and document Human Factors experiments, evaluations, and usability tests.
Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Science, Industrial Design, Human Factors, Ergonomics
    , or a related technical discipline
  • Education, training, or demonstrated professional experience in Human Factors, cognitive ergonomics, physical ergonomics, or a closely related discipline
  • Practical experience with cognitive ergonomics
    , including areas such as:
  • o Cognition and perception
  • o Decision-making
  • o Pilot workload
  • o Situational awareness
  • o Human error
  • o Human-machine interaction
  • Knowledge of physical ergonomics
    , including anthropometry, reach, strength, visibility, accessibility, and physical interaction with cockpit controls
  • Experience with User-Centered Design, HMI development, UX, usability testing, or Human Factors engineering
  • Ability to develop and execute experiments, simulations, evaluations, and tests supporting Verification & Validation
  • Experience with computer-based tools used for prototyping, interface development, modeling, or simulation
  • Strong technical writing and documentation skills
  • Strong verbal communication and presentation capabilities.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Previous experience within the aerospace or aviation industry
  • Knowledge of aircraft flight deck and cockpit systems
  • Understanding of aerospace certification and regulatory requirements related to Human Factors and flight deck design
  • Experience conducting evaluations directly with pilots, flight crews, or aircraft operators
  • Experience supporting aircraft certification, flight testing, simulator testing, or cockpit integration activities
  • Experience developing HMI prototypes or flight deck simulations
  • Familiarity with requirements development, task analysis, human error analysis, and Human Factors certification documentation
