ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS Lead complex engineering assignments related to EMI, HIRF, LIRF, Lightning, and Electrostatics, including detailed analyses using similarity assessments, simulation, and analytical methods
Drive resolution of electromagnetic-related issues to support EMC certification, sustaining activities, production, and in-service aircraft support
Define EMC scope of work, project effort, activities, milestones, technical risks, and task priorities for engineering projects
Analyze new and modified system or structure designs to assess engineering impacts and propose EMC compliance approaches
Review and approve engineering documentation, including test procedures, test reports, analysis reports, and certification compliance documentation
Support creation and updates of technical requirements for EMI, HIRF, LIRF, Lightning, and Electrostatics Prepare and review aircraft-level EMI, HIRF, LIRF, Lightning, and Electrostatic Discharge test procedures, oversee testing, and generate test reports
Provide EMC guidance to internal teams, external suppliers, partners, clients, and collaborative research and development teams
Mentor junior team members and interns, delegate project work, and support knowledge capture, training, and skills development initiatives
Represent the EMC team in multidisciplinary meetings and support EMC testing in Canada, the United States, and Europe as needed
Identify and implement improvements to engineering processes, technical practices, and EMC best practices
Comply with company policies and procedures and perform other duties as assignedKNOWLEDGEAdvanced knowledge of electromagnetic compatibility, including EMI, HIRF, LIRF, Lightning, Electrostatics, and Electrostatic Discharge requirements
Knowledge of aerospace EMC qualification and certification processes for aircraft systems and structures
Working knowledge of relevant industry standards, including RTCA/DO-160 and SAE Aerospace Recommended Practices Familiarity with airworthiness regulations and advisory materials from TCCA, FAA, and EASA related to EMC compliance
Knowledge of test planning, aircraft-level EMC testing, analysis reports, certification documentation, and compliance verification
Experience with electromagnetic simulation tools is preferredCOMPETENCIESStrong engineering leadership and ability to work independently on complex technical assignments
Excellent analytical thinking, problem-solving, and technical decision-making skills
Ability to identify technical, schedule, and budget risks related to EMC activities
Clear and professional written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical audiences
Ability to mentor, coach, train, and guide junior team members and interns
Collaborative approach with airworthiness, manufacturing, engineering, suppliers, partners, and clients
Ability to manage priorities, deadlines, multidisciplinary reviews, and occasional travel requirements EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION Degree in Electrical Engineering, Engineering Sciences, Physics, or a related technical discipline required
Minimum of eight years of EMC experience, which may include professional and/or academic experience, required
Minimum of four years of aerospace systems or structures EMC qualification/certification experience required
Experience participating in major project and design reviews and identifying EMC-related technical, schedule, and budget risks required
Demonstrated specialist-level expertise in at least one area of EMC, with broad knowledge across additional EMC disciplines required
Participation in at least one aircraft development program is preferred
French language skills, knowledge of the aviation business, and experience with electromagnetic simulation tools are preferred WORKING CONDITIONS Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working at a computer
Repetitive use of the hands, wrists, and arms due to computer usage
Work is primarily performed in an office or engineering environment with occasional exposure to laboratory, test, aircraft, or production environments
