Mid-Continent Instruments and Avionics is seeking an Electrical Design Engineer to join our Engineering & Design team in the Aerospace & Defense industry. You will design, develop, and verify avionics, aircraft instruments, and electrical power/backup power systems, ensuring compliance with aviation and defense standards. Responsibilities include circuit design, schematic capture, PCB layout collaboration, requirements definition, testing, troubleshooting, and documentation. You'll work closely with cross-functional teams to deliver high-reliability products, support continuous improvement, and contribute to innovative solutions that enhance flight safety and operational reliability.

Responsibilities

  • Design, analyze, and document mixed-signal and power electronics hardware for avionics and aircraft instruments
  • Develop schematics, select components, and collaborate on PCB layout for high-reliability aerospace products
  • Perform circuit bring-up, lab testing, troubleshooting, and performance optimization using standard test equipment
  • Support environmental, qualification, and compliance testing to applicable aerospace standards such as DO-160
  • Contribute to requirements development, flow-down, and traceability for electrical hardware
  • Prepare and maintain engineering documentation, including design analyses, test plans, and reports
  • Participate in design reviews, FMEAs, and risk assessments to ensure safety, reliability, and compliance
  • Collaborate with systems, mechanical, software, manufacturing, and quality teams throughout the product lifecycle
  • Support transition of designs to production, including resolving manufacturability and test issues
  • Drive continuous improvement in design practices, processes, and product performance in line with company quality objectives
