2027 Internship - Defense and Special Missions AES Engineer
As an intern with Textron, you'll gain hands-on experience while exploring your interests and building new skills. You'll be supported and challenged to contribute in meaningful ways – working on real projects alongside experienced professionals to prepare for future success.
Candidates in this role will gain valuable engineering experience in the area of aircraft avionics and electrical systems including requirements capture, design, validation, troubleshooting, and qualification/certification. Working with managers and key players in Engineering, Candidates will assist in the development of crucial systems on Textron Aviation Defense and Special Missions products.
Prepare engineering drawings for avionics and electrical systems including but not limited to interface wiring diagrams and harness assemblies using computer based drafting tools (Siemens Capital/Mentor Graphics)
Utilize electronic test equipment to verify avionics and electrical systems meet design requirements, and/or for system troubleshooting in the lab and/or on aircraft
Prepare engineering trade studies, functional test procedures, certification plans, ground and flight test plans, certification reports, and other engineering documents
Write technical descriptions of subject matter pertinent to design or test requirements
Evaluation and analysis of avionics and electrical system designs
Pursuing a Bachelor's Degree in:
Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Engineering Technology, Aerospace Engineering
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Strong analytical and problem solving skills
Experience with electronic test equipment preferred but not required
Electronic drafting experience with Siemens Capital preferred but not required
Summer internships are 40 hours per week typically from late-May to early-August lasting 10 weeks.
Candidates must be able to work onsite for the entirety of the internship program unless approved otherwise by the hiring manager.
